Hazardous Areas – Autogas Dispensers
The zones around autogas dispensers are again different to those around petrol dispensers. Where petrol
dispensers have a Zone 2 50mm from the top and 200mm from the sides of the dispenser, the autogas has the
Zone 2 150mm from top and sides with an additional Zone 2 within 1m of the dispenser housing vent.

Conclusions
The revised guidance gives much more detail on various scenorios than can be covered here, and if there is any
doubt about any zone classification the blue book should be consulted. It should be remembered that the
examples and illustrations given above and in the guidance book are typical area classifications only and may
vary on each site to suit specific site layouts.
