Ground Disturbance Checklists
As part of our systems to ensure safety of excavation, drilling and other ground disturbances, we would like to clarify
the requirement for the attached F24.1.4a form to be completed for any works that require breaking the surface. This
includes any form of digging or excavation (weather by mechanical means or by hand), drilling, and use of jack-
hammers (or similar breaking equipment). The only exception being hand moving of pea gravel around MID and
ground signs.
The area must be surveyed, a CAT scan must be carried out and site drawings inspected before the form is completed
and the excavation/drilling carried out. Do not proceed if you do not have a CAT scanner, or are unable to determine
the area is safe to dig/drill.
All crews recently attended dedicated training courses on the use of the CAT scanners and Genny’s we have
purchased. If you have any questions as a result of this course, or on the need to complete the ground disturbance
form, contact your line manager.
Results of CAT scanners are logged by the scanner and imported into Xmoman so we can check the correct use of
the scanners and identify where forms or scans are missing. Please ensure the GPS system in the CAT scanner has
locked onto the satellites before commencing to scan.
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has been learned
throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual presentations, and some by
reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo
Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters, videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for
us to share health and safety information, please let us know. Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep
you well informed!
