Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 559

                                                    16 March 2017

                                           Manual Handling UK Injury

Please see enclosed bulletin regarding a manual handling injury, shared with us by ExxonMobil.

This incident is the UK accident discussed in last week’s safety letter bulletin.

This incident shows the potential consequences of attempting to lift a load too heavy for you to safely lift. If the
JSA/JHA states that mechanical aids or team lifting is needed, then do not attempt to move them on your own. If
nobody else is available then contact your line manager.

If the task specific JSA/JHA does not mention the manual handling operation or is unclear, then refer to “JSA007 –
Manual Handling”, and contact your line manager with details of the lifting operation so they can be added to the
       task specific JSA.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has been learned
throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual presentations, a nd some by
reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo
Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters, videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for
us to share health and safety information, please let us know. Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep
       you well informed!
