Driven To Distraction

Any device or equipment that blocks the view of the driver can be a serious safety hazard. Before driving always
check the visibility, adjust your mirrors and seat position and ensure any equipment is secure.

Driving is one of the most hazardous activities we carry out, and we have identified 58 Potential Incidents, 49 Near
Misses, and 14 Property Damages related to driving since 2004. Ten driving related incidents have been reported
this year.

It is the drivers responsibility to ensure that the vehicle is roadworthy, and this includes the load being secure and
visibility clear. If there are any problems with your vehicle report them to your line manager immediately and
document them on your vehicle check form.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has been learned
throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual presentations, a nd some by
reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo
