Global Alliance Newsletter
Please find attached self explanatory Global Alliance Newsletter.
Please remember to address unsafe behaviour at source to prevent potential injury or
property damage, and then report what you saw and what action you took; we can then
demonstrate to our customers that we are supporting them by keeping people safe and
delivering their safety message whenever we can.
Our progress on near miss recognition, reporting and addressing the issue at source is
constantly improving, with 2009 being our best year yet.
From Jan – May 2006, versus 2005 we saw near miss reporting increase by 100%
From Jan – May 2007, versus 2006 we saw near miss reporting increase by 275%
From Jan – May 2008, versus 2007 we saw near miss reporting increase by 100%
From Jan – May 2009, versus 2008 near miss reporting has increased by 180%
Please remember that each near miss reported is investigated and wherever possible,
control measures are identified and put in place to prevent the likelihood of recurrence
and potentially save lives.
Being safe depends on the choices we make everyday. The right choices can save lives. We want to
share safety information and help to raise industry awareness. Safety is not about getting one over on
the competition. We need to talk openly, share what we know and make the right choices.
