The eye in the wire rope, formed with the connectors which are crimped, pulled loose
during the inspection. This obviously renders it completely ineffective!
Wire ropes pull free of fittings with minimal force applied!
Two have since been found to be defective from the same factory.
Suggestion: Immediately check your stock of Fall Protection Harnesses for similar
defects!
Reiterate the importance of “Pre-Use PPE Inspections!”
Our individual safety is not solely in our hands, we have to rely on those around us to steer us away
from danger and warn us of potential hazards. We need safety awareness to be instinctive and form an
integral part of our working lives; it is this, in turn, that may save the lives of others.
