Employee Hearing Protection - a short video

Following our participation in three IOSH Noise workshops, last year we employed a specialist
Occupational Health Practitioner to measure the noise levels that our employees are exposed to when
working on site.

The findings led us to take a number of actions including changes to our safe systems of work, the
development of a noise management Safety Short and training course, stricter guidelines relating to the
use of power tools, implementation of noise protection zones and associated signage on live sites and a
review of our hearing protection procedures and equipment.

Noise induced hearing loss claims now cost insurers £400 million per year and this is predicted to rise
sharply, so we have now given employees the option of custom moulded hearing protection made to
specifically fit the shape of their ear canal.
