Dehydration
Please see enclosed a safety alert regarding dehydration that was shared with us by Artelia.
At the time of writing there is a heatwave across the country with temperatures at 42-year highs in
places, hosepipe bans, and reports of rail tracks buckling.
In these temperatures the risk of dehydration is very real, especially when working outside in direct sun.
This can be even worse when working on canopy top sheets where the sun reflects off the sheeting and
there is no shade.
Take regular breaks and keep drinking water. Consider also eating food that has high hydration levels,
such as soups, fruit, vegetables, yogurt or ice cream. Try to avoid drinks that contain too much caffeine
which can act as a diuretic.
Stop and seek shade if you feel dizzy or lightheaded. Seek medical attention if symptoms don’t
improve after resting and drinking liquids.
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
