Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality Bulletin No 626

                                                    28 June 2018

                                                  Work At Height

Please see enclosed a safety alert regarding work at height accident that was shared with us by Quant.

As part of our regular work we often need to work at height, and the familiarity with the tasks can make
it easy to become complacent to the risks involved. This is why we have set procedures and checklists
that must be completed before any work at height is carried out. The Work At Height Checklist F15.3.2
must be completed for all work at height, irrespective of the access method used or height of working
platform. This form is designed to stop you from becoming complacent, it is to remind you that people
die from this activity, ensure you carefully consider the questions, don’t let the form just become a
           tickbox exercise.

Before working at height consider if the task can be done from the ground. By the nature of a lot of our
work this is not completely possible, but it may be possible to limit the work at height, e.g. by cutting
           panels at ground level.

If you have any suggestions as to how we can reduce work at height, or make working at height safer,
           please contact your line manager.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
