Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 447

                                                  22 January 2015

                                                         Stress

The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) has released a practical e-guide to
managing psychosocial risks in the workplace.

The guide can be seen at http://eguides.osha.europa.eu/stress/GB-EN/ and includes advice for
employees and employers on how the risks can be managed and the difference between stress and
           pressure.

A video also accompanies the guide, and can be seen at https://www.healthy-workplaces.eu/en/tools-
           and-resources/a-guide-to-psychosocial-risks.

The latest HSE statistics show that in 2013/14 there were 487,000 cases of work-related stress,
depression or anxiety, this represents 39% of all work-related illness.

As part of our stress management policy, we employ a confidential Employee Assistance Programme,
available to all employees 24 hours a day to provide advice and / or counselling services on any matter
(business or personal), contact details are documented in the H&S manual (section D10.1.1) and would
remind all employees that it is available by way of this bulletin.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
