               • Take a few seconds to climb down facing the vehicle – DON’T jump. Jumping is
bad for your knees in the long term and you are much more likely to fall and
could break an arm or leg.

               • Before stepping off the vehicle, check for uneven surfaces such as potholes or
kerbs which may cause you to slip.
               • Always use steps and handholds if provided.
               • Keep the load area tidy – pick up loose ropes, packaging etc.
               • Report missing or damaged access equipment.
               • Report slip, trip and fall hazards and discuss with managers how these risks could
                  be minimised.
               • Ensure that you are wearing your slip-resistant safety footwear.

Being safe depends on the choices we make everyday. The right choices can save lives. We want to
share safety information and help to raise industry awareness. Safety is not about getting one over on

the competition. We need to talk openly, share what we know and make the right choices.
