Well Done – Environmental Milestone

I would personally like to say a huge thank you to all Xmo Strata employees, and approved
subcontractors, for their contribution to what can only be described as an outstanding environmental
performance.

In 2011, we set ourselves the challenging objective of not only recycling as much of our waste as
possible, but also generating an audit trail that would detail:

• The type of waste
• The waste stream
• The tonnage of waste
• The percentage recycled versus that sent to landfill
• Details of the waste carrier, their license number
• The disposal destination

By 31 October 2012 we had generated a comprehensive waste management module on our XmoMan
Management Information System, and with the fantastic support of our employees, achieved an
incredible milestone of being able to account for more than 500 tonnes of traceable, recycled waste.

When we embarked on this challenge our target was to recycle 80% of the waste that we produced in
2012, rising to 90% in 2013. For the first few months, it was difficult to secure employee and supply
chain buy-in, and as a consequence we struggled to achieve our targets. We also struggled to measure,
report and establish the transparency needed.

However, since then, we have continually improved our performance, improved the way we manage
the process, have identified areas for further improvement and are now recycling 96% of our waste,
with only 4% going to landfill.
