Last Minute Risk Assessments: supporting toolbox talks with video

The Dragons’ work is now complete as the third in a series of toolbox talk support films is launched

which focuses on the importance of Last Minute Risk Assessments (LMRAs).

At the 2011 Health & Safety Awareness day, the company made a commitment to producing a new
training video inspired by employees. All attendees were asked to take part in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style

presentation which involved pitching ideas to a panel of ‘dragons’ suggesting possible subject matters
for further safety training. The response on the day was overwhelming, with all attendees showing a

real passion and enthusiasm for putting forward ideas and sharing their experiences.

As a result, we decided to take three ideas and produce individual videos to support toolbox talks in the

           relevant training areas.

With the addition of this new episode, the series now includes:

               1) Lock Out Tag Out – the safe isolation of energy sources
               2) Safe use of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs)

               3) Last Minute Risk Assessments – the continual re-assessment of risk

           Identifying potential hazards in advance

The latest video – which emphasises the need for crews to be ALERT, PROACTIVE and SAFE –
was the brainchild of Field Services Manager, Terry Smith, Quality & Systems Manager, Michael

Mott, Site Engineers John Cornwall, Tom Norman, Billy Hoy, Geoff Upton and Jamie Lee, Painter &
Sprayer, Matthew Land and Gilbarco Veeder-Root's Paul Picano.
