Positive Interventions – Where we see somebody doing something potentially dangerous, we attempt
to intervene. We attempt to try to stop the dangerous activity and eliminate the hazard to the person
and all other site users.
Intervening can be stressful and potentially cause a conflict, so we train crews in how to make the
positive intervention safely and without making the problem worse. However, the risk of intervening
can be seen as higher than the risk you are trying to remove, so a LMRA should always be carried out
before intervening.
Since 2004 we have carried out 324 interventions, 85% of all relevant incidents.
