Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 495

                                                 24 December 2015

                                                       Site Fire

Please see enclosed safety alert regarding a fire whilst dispensing fuel that was shared with us by
           CBRE.

Dispensing fuel is something we see customers do on the forecourt every day without incident, and
because the dispensers and systems have been designed to control the risks it’s easy to forget the
           hazards involved.

This incident is a reminder that the liquid that the customers are dispensing is highly flammable and
if mistreated can explode. Recently Shell have implemented new procedures (GDS08.080) to
increase the controls on site around dispensers, particularly when carrying out work that can cause
sparks in the hazardous areas. The new procedures have been incorporated into our JHA’s and a
training module added to our XmoHub site for all crews. If you have not completed this training, or
are unsure of any of the rules, contact your line manager.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
