Van Speed Limits
An internal peer on peer positive intervention recently highlighted an issue that we wish to share with
all van drivers who work for us.
All vans that we operate are rated between 2 and 3.5 tonnes, which means means their maximum speed limit is
lower than that of a car.
The legal speed limits can be found at the government site: https://www.gov.uk/speed-limits
For vans over 2 tonnes, they are classified as “Goods vehicles (not more than 7.5 tonnes maximum laden
weight)”, which means the maximum speed limit is reduced to 50mph on single carriageway and 60mph on dual
carriageway roads.
Please note that these are the absolute maximum speed limits and it does not mean it is always safe to drive at
these speeds. Always assess the local conditions and reduce your speed appropriately.
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
