Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 454

                                                   12 March 2015

                                                   Egypt Fatality

Please see enclosed safety alert regarding a fatal collision that was shared with us by ExxonMobil.

This incident shows the need to always stay vigilant, and always be aware of traffic manoeuvring on site. It is
easy to think that you would hear vehicles manoeuvring on site and therefore discount the dangers, but the fact is
that people are regularly injured or killed by slow moving vehicles.

The latest HSE statistics show that 13 fatalities, 492 major injuries, and 999 seven-day injuries occurred due to
collisions with moving vehicles in the UK in 2013/14 (remember this does not include road traffic accidents).

It is a company rule that you always wear high visibility vests and hard hats, this helps to make yourself visible to
drivers on site, however PPE is not a magic suit, it will not protect you if you are standing in the line of fire, or
hidden behind a vehicle. Position your barriers to segregate your work area, wherever possible using your van as
           a barrier.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
