Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 225
S Martin – 30 December 2010
Accidents
Please see enclosed self explanatory bulletin from Global Alliance.
The bulletin shows how accidents can happen when performing even the most basic of
tasks. Concentration can lapse when you think you are doing something relatively safe,
and you end up "asleep at the wheel".
Always keep your mind on the task in hand, carry out last minute risk assessments for
even the most basic tasks, and stay alert to your surroundings - especially in these dark
winter months.

About Risk
Risk management is a big step towards accident prevention; however, it is dependent on the risk firstly
being identified, then controlled. We need safety awareness to be instinctive and form an integral part
of both our working and home lives; it is this, in turn, that may save the lives of others. Remember: if
shared, risks can be mitigated before they pose a threat.
