Forecourts - Take Care
Please see enclosed self explanatory safety alert from Coteba.
The incident is not related to Xmo in any way, but describes a serious injury to a worker
who was just walking across a live forecourt. This is an activity we carry out every day
and there’s always the danger of us becoming overconfident or "asleep at the wheel"
whilst working.
The danger of vehicles entering the forecourt at high speed is generally accepted and is
the topic of our latest DVD, but the dangers of vehicles slowly manoeuvring on the
forecourt can sometimes be overlooked.
This is the second incident that has been reported recently where a vehicle reversing on
the forecourt has hit a worker, and luckily in both cased the worker survived. In one case
the worker sustained a dislocation and multiple fractures of an ankle and one received
stitches and injuries to his hands, knees and shoulders; the next person may not be so
lucky - make sure it is not you!

About Risk
Risk management is a big step towards accident prevention; however, it is dependent on the risk firstly
being identified, then controlled. We need safety awareness to be instinctive and form an integral part
of both our working and home lives; it is this, in turn, that may save the lives of others. Remember: if
shared, risks can be mitigated before they pose a threat.
