Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 164
M Mott – 19 November 2009
Power Lines
Please see enclosed self explanatory safety bulletin.
According to HSE statistics there were 448 reportable injuries in the UK in 2007/2008
caused by contact with electricity, of these 9 were fatal.
Always keep an eye open for overhead lines. Do not erect towers, unload vehicles or
work at height near them. If the job requires you to carry out work near the lines,
contact your supervisor who can arrange for appropriate control measures to be put in
place.
Our individual safety is not solely in our hands, we have to rely on those around us to steer us away
from danger and warn us of potential hazards. We need safety awareness to be instinctive and form an
integral part of our working lives; it is this, in turn, that may save the lives of others.
If you have any queries regarding the Safety Bulletin content or require further information please
contact any staff member of Xmo Strata Ltd.
