Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 065

                                         S Martin – 29 November 2007

                                  Working at Height Windspeed Change

Please note that following guidance from PASMA (The Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and
Manufacturers’ Association) and BOSS who manufacture the mobile aluminium towers that we use, we
have reduced the maximum windspeed at which we recommend that you are able to work on
Sherpascopic working platforms and mobile scaffold towers from 24 mph (Force 5) to 17 mph (Force
           4).

Our risk assessments indicate that working from a scissor lift or fixed scaffold is still acceptable up to
24 mph (Force 5), but I would stress that whatever the windspeed, if you feel unsafe do not work.

If you are not sure, or feel that anything is not safe, please ring your Supervisor, Operations
           Manager or me.

All new working at height checklists
           will show the reduced maximum
           working windspeeds, but please keep
this bulletin with you for reference if
you still have a stock of the old version.

“let’s make sure that we continue to make our sites THE SAFEST by helping ourselves, our colleagues,
our customers and even our competitors by improving training, helping where necessary and
addressing any issues of concern there and then”

If you have any queries regarding the Safety Bulletin content or require further information please
