Despite strong control systems and us adopting a continual improvement policy, at recent HSSE
steering meetings we have discussed the fact that in our opinion the biggest risk to us, our employees
and our customers’ reputation is complacency and that even with the best training and the best
procedures, we cannot legislate for someone who is ‘asleep at the wheel’ whilst on our sites.

Whilst none of the incidents referred to in this bulletin involved Xmo Strata in any way, they do
highlight the risks that we face every day and the consequences of complacency; as a direct
consequence, ALL Xmo Strata employees will participate in a series of planned safety time-outs over
the next three weeks to discuss these incidents and the consequences of complacency, given the high
risk nature of our work and the trust that our customers place in us to protect their patrons and their
           own reputation.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything
we do has been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and
charts, some through visual presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we
receive information in a format that works for us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of
communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters, videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for
us to share health and safety information, please let us know. Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we
will do all we can to keep you well informed!
