Fatal Fall
Please see enclosed a self-explanatory newsletter that was shared by Gatwick Airport Ltd.
This incident is a reminder that even working at relatively low heights can have serious consequences.
Before working at height, you must always consider whether the task could be done from the ground,
assess and control all the risks, fully complete an F15.3.2 Working At Height form (or customer
specific equivalent), and carry out a LMRA to ensure all risks are identified and controlled.
We have eliminated or significantly reduced working at height in several areas recently; for example,
we now always assemble back frames off site where possible to reduce on site exposure times, carry
out image surveys from the ground and cut panels to suit when they arrive, we valet and paint canopies
from the ground using telescopic equipment and welcome feedback in other areas where you think we
can do similarly.
If you have any concerns or queries about this policy or require guidance on fall arrest procedures,
please contact your line manager.
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works
for us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
