Second safety film released: Safe use of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs)

At our 2011 annual health and safety day, we challenged employees and subcontractors to come up

with possible ideas for a new series of safety films which would look at safe working practices on
forecourts.

Based on their feedback and suggestions, the second in this series of Toolbox Talk support films looks

at the safe use of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs). The five minute film gives a step-by-step
overview of using MEWPs, the safety procedures to follow, the risk assessments to carry out, the

associated documentation which must be completed, and the designated responsibilities for

drivers/banskmen.

This 10-point guide is designed to help anyone working with, or around, MEWPs. Most importantly,

the idea and concept were developed by the very people who are hands-on with this equipment
regularly, and who understand the safety implications to those operating it.

Please take a few minutes to have a look. You never know, watching it may spare you or your

colleagues from injury.
