Mates in Mind
Part of this years Health and Safety Day was a talk by Richard Carrington of Williams Southern Ltd
about Mental Health and the Mates In Mind organisation that is aiming to change attitudes in the
construction industry on this issue.
We would like to thank Richard for his time and support.
In the construction industry more workers die by suicide than by falls. If you are suffering from mental
health issues, know that you are not alone, and help is available.
Every Xmo employee has access to a confidential Employee Assistance Programme, available to all
employees 24 hours a day to provide advice and / or counselling services on any matter (business or
personal), contact details are documented in our H&S manual (section D10.1.1).
Should you wish to discuss any mental health issues with us, we will keep all information discussed
private and confidential and provide support and help. Should you have concerns about a colleague,
we encourage you to talk to them and encourage them to seek help.
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
