Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality Bulletin No 649

                                                 06 December 2018

                                        MEWP Segregation / Barriers

Please see enclosed a safety alert regarding barriers around MEWPs that was shared with us by Artelia.

A safe working area must always be created around MEWPs, even on closed sites. The safe working
area is to protect persons on site from the moving machinery and from any objects that may fall from
the MEWP. This includes protecting any other contractors or workers on closed sites.

Never work so close to other contractors that you are unable to adequately segregate the work areas. If
you need to work close to others, talk to them to see if the work areas can be separated, or done at
different times. If you are unable to agree a safe work area / time separation with the contractor, contact
           your line manager.

Ensure the barriers used to segregate the work area are sufficient, if you need additional barriers stop
           and contact your line manager.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
