Cut Injuries
Please see enclosed a safety alert regarding a fall that was shared with us by BP.
The HSE statistics show that in 2017/18 there were 6733 reportable cut / laceration / open wound
injuries in the UK, 6731 of which were over 7 day, and two of which were fatal.
You might consider the risk of cuts to be of minor consequence, but the 6733 people seriously injured in
the past year would disagree.
A lot of the tasks we carry out require us to work with or near old panels, which often have sharp edges.
Always beware when handling or reaching through panels, if possible, avoid or cover the sharp edges.
Always wear suitable cut resistant gloves as specified in the SSoW and long-sleeved tops.
If you are unsure about any of the above please contact your line manager.
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do ha s
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
