Waste Inside Canopy
In a recent near miss a large piece of steel fell out of a canopy when we removed an under-canopy
sheet.
The crew were following the Safe System of Work, kept away from line of fire, and had the area
barriered off so no injury occurred.
Metal that fell out of canopy
This is an example of why it is important to stay out of the line of fire and have the area suitably
barriered off when removing under-sheeting.
We have recorded 40 cases of waste / material being left inside the canopy structure, and this seems to
be becoming more common, 19 cases have been recorded in the past 12 months. This is the third case
of material falling from the under-sheets in the past year.
