Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality Bulletin No 611

                                                   15 March 2018

                                    Working Around Heavy Equipment

Please see enclosed a safety alert regarding three fatalities that was shared with us by ExxonMobil.

We regularly work with or near heavy plant and equipment, MEWPS, HIABs, cranes, or nearby traffic
(HGV’s) all pose a significant hazard when they are moving around the site. It is important that work
involving or near this heavy equipment is planned appropriately and you continue to monitor the
           situation thought-out the job (LMRA).

Segregate the work area by erecting barriers between the equipment and the pedestrian areas / work
areas. Only allow authorised, qualified persons to operate the equipment and use banksman as a guide.
Where possible park your vehicle in the line of fire from vehicles are entering site.

If you feel something isn’t safe, or something changes on site, stop and re-evaluate your risks and
control measures, talk your concerns over with the other workers on site, don’t continue work until you
are sure it is safe to do so.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
