HSSE Bulletin No 591

                                                  26 October 2017

                                             Management of Change

Please see enclosed safety alert regarding an injury shared with us by Artelia.

Many accidents occur when the initial plan hits a snag and you have to change the way the work will be
carried out. It can be tempting to come up with a quick fix, and plough ahead to get the work done,
especially if the job is under time pressure. The management of change is the process you go through to
reassess the risks of the altered job, and the implementation and documentation of the additional
           controls.

It is important that if you are unable to carry out any works to the original plan / safe system of work,
then you stop work, carry out an assessment of the new risks, and document those changes on the
clearance certificate / Last minute risk assessment.

If you are unable to make the adjusted plan safe, then do not proceed – contact your line manager.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
