Discarded Cigarette Causes Fire
On a drive home one of our crews recently saw a driver throw a cigarette from a car window.
The cigarette hit the front of our van, and after a few minutes a smell of burning was detected, followed
by smoke coming out of the bonnet. After stopping and investigating, it was found that the black cover
underside of the bonnet was smouldering. Water was sprayed to extinguish it, and after waiting to
ensure the problem was resolved the journey was continued.
We would like to reiterate the danger of discarded cigarettes, and remind everybody that smoking is not
allowed in company vehicles or on any Xmo Strata client sites. If you smoke, ensure cigarettes are
extinguished before being discarded into suitable bins.
