Scaffolding
Please see enclosed safety alert regarding hand injury, shared with us by Engie Fabricom.
Though we always use competent, specialist, accredited subcontractors to erect/modify/remove scaffolding, we have
experienced 22 Potential Incidents and 6 Near Misses related to scaffolding in the past twelve years. This shows the
need to always check the scaffold before use, don’t just rely on the fact it has a scafftag – examine the scaffold
yourself; does it look safe? Are all the toeboards/kickboards in place? Has anything moved or appear to have been
altered?
If you have any doubts about the scaffold do not use it, contact your line manager immediately. Never attempt to
modify or ‘fix’ a scaffold yourself!
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has bee n learned
throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual presentations, and some by
reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo
Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters, videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for
us to share health and safety information, please let us know. Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep
you well informed!
