Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 492

                                                 03 December 2015

                                                      Flash Fire

Please see enclosed safety alert regarding a flash fire shared with us by Artelia.

When working on filling stations the risk from petrol vapours can become overlooked; it’s easy to
start cutting corners and think, “I’ve done this before and nothing happened”. This incident reminds
us that vapours are on site and can ignite with only the smallest ignition source.

Always follow your documented safe system of work (JSA/JHA/SMS), and check that it contains all
the control measures that you would use to prevent ignition of fuel. The JSA/JHA/SMS all document
steps to be taken that ensure your safety, so missing steps or controls reduces your protection and can
           result in accidents.

If you think you can improve your safe system of work, we are happy to listen to suggestions and
           make amendments where necessary.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
