Road Traffic Accident
Please see enclosed safety incident regarding a road traffic accident that was shared with us by JCI.
Driving is the most dangerous activity that we carryout, and should be undertaken with due car and
attention. Always check your vehicle before departing, allow sufficient time to arrive at your
destination, and follow the highway code.
Last month the Department of Transport released the latest accident statistics, which show an increase
in the number of accidents resulting in injuries of 5.9% and an increase of 4% in fatalities.
The Department of Transport statistics show, 1,775 people were killed and 22,807 people were
seriously injured in road accidents in 2014. A total of 194,477 people suffered some form of injury in
accidents reported to the police. This is an increase of 5.9% compared with the previous year, whereas
traffic levels only increased by 2.4%.
One of the reasons for the increase being the warm weather we had in 2014 (warm weather means more
people cycling / motorcycling).
Always take extra care to ensure your vehicle is roadworthy, including removing any snow that could
fall off, and completely clearing/defrosting the windows.
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
