Please see enclosed self explanatory safety bulletin received from Coteba.
Our policy is always to mitigate hazards at source where we can. All crews are
encouraged address any unsafe behaviour or condition at the time of discovery; in 2010
we were able to mitigate 137 dangerous acts or conditions at the time we discovered
them and probably saved several people from being hurt.
This bulletin re-enforces this message - if you see something dangerous, fix it (if safe to
do so) and report it.
Risk management is a big step towards accident prevention; however, it is dependent on the risk firstly
being identified, then controlled. We need safety awareness to be instinctive and form an integral part
of both our working and home lives; it is this, in turn, that may save the lives of others. Remember: if
shared, risks can be mitigated before they pose a threat.
