Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 213

                                        D Heathorn - 21 October 2010

                                                 Wind Conditions

Please see enclosed a self explanatory bulletin from Johnson Controls.

This incident highlights the need to always carry out Last Minute Risk Assessments
(LMRA) on each site, taking into account local site conditions, including the weather.

All crews have wind speed meters (anemometers) to measure and record readings on a
work at height checklist. JSAs detail the maximum wind speed for the task, so please do
not risk working at height if the wind speed is higher than that detailed, or if you feel the
           conditions are unsafe.

                                                                                          Share Thoughts
                                                                                            About Risk

Risk management is a big step towards accident prevention; however, it is dependent on the risk firstly
being identified, then controlled. We need safety awareness to be instinctive and form an integral part
of both our working and home lives; it is this, in turn, that may save the lives of others. Remember: if
shared, risks can be mitigated before they pose a threat.
