Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 014

                                        S Martin – 24 November 2005

                                               Weather Warning

As December and January near, it is inevitable that we will receive a large increase in call
out’s relating to wind damaged Signware (canopies in particular).

         Please note the following points:

             a) Drive safely, observing speed limits and being vigilant in looking out for icy roads.
(Better not to be dead on time than to be dead on arrival).

             b) Beware of ground conditions affected by rain, snow or frost.

             c) NEVER work at height without first completing Working at Height checklist.

             d) ALWAYS check windspeed with anemometer provided and do not work at height
                if above 24mph (Force 5).

             e) Do not work on icy or slippery working platform.

             f) Beware of items falling from canopy in high winds – if in doubt, close the site.

             g) If dangerous items cannot be rectified because of windspeed and there is still a
danger, encourage the site to call the Fire Brigade.

             h) Do not enter any excavation, manhole or tunnel that could become slippery or be at
                risk of flooding.

“let’s make sure that we continue to make our sites THE SAFEST by helping ourselves, our colleagues,
our customers and even our competitors by improving training, helping where necessary and addressing
any issues of concern there and then”
