Swine Flu
Please see enclosed explanatory NHS Guidance on Swine Flu.
At the time of writing, there have been 9 confirmed deaths and 212 confirmed cases of
Swine Flu in 12 countries. Of these, 8 cases are within the UK and a total of 230
possible cases in the UK are being investigated. These numbers are likely to have
increased by the time you read this.
If you suspect you are infected, you should stay at home and call the hotline
0800 1513513, in order to minimise the risk of infection.
Please remember that the last minute risk assessment is an ongoing process and
something that applies to everyday life, not just something you do when completing
your paperwork.
Our individual safety is not solely in our hands, we have to rely on those around us to steer us away
from danger and warn us of potential hazards. We need safety awareness to be instinctive and form an
integral part of our working lives; it is this, in turn, that may save the lives of others.
