Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 303
17 May 2012
Life Saving Rule Violation
Please see enclosed self-explanatory bulletin from JCI.
According to the latest HSE statistics, there were 9704 reportable accidents due to falls from height in
2010/2011. Of these 7557 were falls of less than 2m, and 20 were fatal.
Fall protection must be used, even for low level work at height, this includes work from shop roofs,
single layer towers, or from steps. The fall protection should preferably be in the form of barriers or
edge protection, if this is not practicable then harnesses with suitable lanyard and anchor point must be
used and the control measures clearly documented in your same system of work.
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything
we do has been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and
charts, some through visual presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we
receive information in a format that works for us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of
communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters, videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for
us to share health and safety information, please let us know. Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we
will do all we can to keep you well informed!
