Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 289
16 February 2012
German Contractor Restricted Work Incident
Please see enclosed self explanatory safety Alert from ExxonMobil.
This incident highlights the need to review all JSAs and identify any tasks that are not
adequately covered. The most important step in reviewing JSA's is getting feedback
from the people doing the job.
• Do the JSA's cover all tasks?
• Are there any steps missing?
• Are there any hazards missing?
• Are the JSA's practical?
• Can the job be done safer?
You are requested politely, as well as legally obliged under section 14 of the
Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, to notify us of any
shortcoming in our procedures; we genuinely want to know and want to make our
procedures as safe as they can be for you all. If you find any issues, or can improve any
JSA or any other instruction – please tell us about it!
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything
we do has been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and
charts, some through visual presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we
receive information in a format that works for us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of
communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters, videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for
us to share health and safety information, please let us know. Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we
will do all we can to keep you well informed!
