Wearing Lanyards Whilst Driving
Please see enclosed a safety alert that was shared with us by Quant.
This alert highlights the dangers of wearing lanyards or other large necklaces during an airbag
deployment.
Airbags deploy at up to 200mph and can in some cases cause injury if you are too close or are wearing
inappropriate objects.
It is recommended to keep at least ten inches between your chest and the driver site airbag and double
that for passengers. If this is not the case move your chair back or recline the back of the seat. The
steering wheel airbag should be tilted towards your chest, not directly at your face.
Airbags are designed as secondary safety systems, and you must always wear your seatbelt for them to
be safe.
Before driving remove any lanyards, nametags or other objects that could cause injury, place these in a
glovebox or secure location where they will be stable during manoeuvres. Remember loose objects can
become missiles during a rapid deceleration, ensure everything is secure.
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
