Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality Bulletin No 601

                                                  04 January 2018

                                                  Winter Driving

Please see enclosed a safety poster regarding winter driving shared with us by BP.

Even in dry conditions, cold weather can increase stopping distances - at temperatures under 7 degree
Centigrade normal tyres become hard and are less able to key into the road surface.

Stopping distances on icy roads can be up to ten times normal stopping distances, so always leave
plenty of room between yourself and the driver in front. Look ahead for hazards, including patches of
ice or snow. Brake and accelerate smoothly to reduce the risk of a skid.

Always check the weather forecast before setting out and leave plenty of time to account for the weather
           conditions.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
