Cable Avoidance Tools
In February, we reviewed and further strengthened our ground disturbance procedures, which were built
into the XmoMan competency control’s so jobs involving any ground disturbance whatsoever could not
be allocated to untrained teams.
An ‘on the job’ training programme was developed, using an accredited trainer and several teams have
since received refresher training, which is available on request.
In order to improve traceability further, we have procured new C.A.T 4 and Gennys that enable us to
check much of the data that they record, so we can proactively monitor training needs and ensure
compliance.
Data Acquisition / Logging
On-board memory allows over a year’s worth of data to be stored. This data can be backed-up to a PC at
any time, giving virtually unlimited record keeping for the life of the product. Retrieved data can be
analysed, either locally or remotely.
Factors logged include:
a) Mode of use
b) Genny / Power / Radio signal strengths
c) Date and time of survey
d) StrikeAlert / Swing warning statuses
e) Speed over ground
f) Location of survey (Latitude/Longitude)
g) Bargraph readout
h) Sensitivity control setting
i) Depth measurements made
j) Battery status
k) Last / next calibration date
l) Dynamic Overload Protection /signal overload status
m) Angle of use
n) Number of Satellites Received
