Hand Injury
Please see enclosed safety alert regarding a hand injury that was shared with us by JCI.
This incident shows the importance of wearing the correct type and rating of glove, and of having a stable
working position. All Xmo JSA’s detail the EN388 rating of the gloves to be worn for each step, always read
through the JSA and ensure you have suitable gloves for each part of the job, even if that means using two or
three different gloves during the job.
Using a stable working position does not just apply to types of access equipment (i.e Sherpascopic steps are more
stable), but also applies to body positions, we provide knee pads so that you can kneel in a stable position without
risks to your knees.
If you are unclear on the requirements of the JSA’s, require additional PPE, or have any suggestions regarding
these procedures please contact your line manager.
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works for
us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
