Electrical Fire

Please see enclosed a self-explanatory bulletin that was shared with us by Artelia.

The latest statistics from the National Statistics show that in 2011-12 the fire brigade attended 272,000
fires in the UK, and there were 380 fatalities and 11,300 non-fatal casualties due to fires.

Of the 13,893 fires in non-residential properties, 18.2% were caused by faulty electrical distribution
systems, and a further 18.6% by faulty electrical equipment.

This incident shows the potential consequences of an electrical fault and the reason why it is
recommended to carry out regular periodic inspections of all electrical systems and PAT testing of
appliances.
