Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 383

                                                07 November 2013

                                                      Fatal Fall

Please see enclosed a self-explanatory JCI bulletin that was shared with us by Artelia.

This incident again highlights the dangers of working at height, and the need to wear safety harnesses
suitably secured to an anchor point when working on fragile roofs or removing roof panels.

According to latest HSE statistics, there were 39 fatalities in the construction industry in 2012/13.

The breakdown by type is not yet available for 2012/13, but for 2011/12 falls from height represented a
           quarter of all fatal injuries.

We have comprehensive policies and procedures covering work carried out at height, and all crews are
trained on all aspects of the job and equipment used. These procedures and training courses are put in
place to keep you safe – ensure you follow them.

We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything we do has
been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and charts, some through visual
presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we receive information in a format that works
for us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters,
videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for us to share health and safety information, please let us know.
Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we will do all we can to keep you well informed!
