Angle Grinder Injury

Please see enclosed self explanatory safety bulletin received from Global Alliance.

All tools and plant used on site must be inspected before use and not used if there are
parts missing or damaged. If you have any plant that has guards or any other part
missing contact your supervisor.

When using any tools and plant, ensure the work item is secure and that no body part (of
you or anybody else) is in the line of fire; this includes correct placement of your hand if
using a saw and not walking across the forecourt in the line of fire of site patron’s
vehicles when signing in or walking to and from the shop. Always remember that if you

aren’t in the line of fire, you won’t be hurt if something does go wrong.

Risk management is a big step towards accident prevention; however, it is dependent on the risk firstly
being identified, then controlled. We need safety awareness to be instinctive and form an integral part
of both our working and home lives; it is this, in turn, that may save the lives of others. Remember: if
shared, risks can be mitigated before they pose a threat.
