Boom Lift Fatality
Please see enclosed self explanatory safety alert received from ExxonMobil.
Always ensure you check the ground conditions on site before using any access
equipment in the area, if you are in any doubt of the stability of the ground, contact your
supervisor.
It is Xmo Strata policy that harnesses must be worn in all MEWPS, including all types
of cherry pickers and scissor lifts. Always ensure you inspect your harness and lanyard
before use, and ensure you are aware of the rescue procedure.
Risk management is a big step towards accident prevention; however, it is dependent on the risk firstly
being identified, then controlled. We need safety awareness to be instinctive and form an integral part
of both our working and home lives; it is this, in turn, that may save the lives of others. Remember: if
shared, risks can be mitigated before they pose a threat.
