Health, Safety & Environmental Bulletin No 283
5 January 2012
Weather Warning
Please see enclosed self-explanatory bulletin from ABB.
At the time of writing the UK Met Office have issued no weather warnings for the rest of this week.
However, for next week they are predicting "unsettled and often windy across northern and western
parts, with gales or perhaps severe gales at times", it is therefore likely that we will see further severe
weather; wind, rain or snow in the next few weeks and you should pay close attention to local weather
forecasts before travelling.
When carrying out your Last Minute Risk Assessments (LMRA) always be aware of the weather
conditions and monitor the conditions throughout the job. Stop work if the conditions cause significant
loss of visibility or cause surfaces to be dangerously slippery. Always check the wind speed before
working at height.
We are all a product of learning. Every skill we have; everything we know; everything we believe and everything
we do has been learned throughout the course of our lives. Some of us learn best by studying graphs and
charts, some through visual presentations, and some by reading detailed text books. It is important that we
receive information in a format that works for us as individuals! That’s why at Xmo Strata we use a variety of
communication platforms such as bulletins, newsletters, videos etc. However, if you feel there is a better way for
us to share health and safety information, please let us know. Ultimately, your safety is in your hands – but we
will do all we can to keep you well informed!
