Summer Driving

Please see enclosed self explanatory bulletin from ExxonMobil.

Ian Kidger (Safety Advisor UK/Ireland/EMIL, Esso Petroleum Company Ltd) stated,
"Driving is one of the most potentially hazardous things we all do. The summer period
introduces some different risks to our familiar roads. In addition for the UK we have the
potential for heavy rain and thunder storms which can create pools of water on the
road. As ever effective planning and defensive techniques are all highlighted in the
bulletin. Think you are ready?
Think again, study the material carefully, reflect on your actual personal performance,
are you really deploying every skill in the bulletin? Look for your opportunities, before

someone else finds them for you.
Safe drive – stay alive."

Risk management is a big step towards accident prevention; however, it is dependent on the risk firstly
being identified, then controlled. We need safety awareness to be instinctive and form an integral part
of both our working and home lives; it is this, in turn, that may save the lives of others. Remember: if
shared, risks can be mitigated before they pose a threat.
